Refining Expertise: Presenting at the Philippine Glaucoma Society Fellow’s Round Table

There is a unique kind of energy that comes from being in a room filled with the brightest minds in your field. This past week, I had the incredible honor of presenting an interesting clinical case at the Philippine Glaucoma Society (PGS) Fellow’s Round Table Discussion (RTD).

As a glaucoma fellow, these moments are the “north stars” of our training. They are not just about sharing data; they are about the rigorous exchange of ideas that ultimately leads to better patient care.

The Power of the Round Table

The RTD serves as a vital platform for fellows to dive deep into complex cases. Presenting in front of esteemed glaucoma specialists was both a humbling and exhilarating challenge. To receive feedback and learn directly from the giants of the Philippine ophthalmology community is an enriching experience that textbooks simply cannot replicate.

Gratitude and Mentorship

No milestone in medical training is reached alone. I am deeply grateful for the guidance and wisdom of our adviser and consultants. A special thank you to Sir Nilo Vincent FlorCruz II for the invaluable mentorship and for pushing us to achieve clinical excellence.

Your insights help us navigate the nuances of this “silent thief of sight,” ensuring we are prepared for the complexities of glaucoma surgery and long-term management.

Strength in Community: The Class of 2025

Sharing this journey makes the hard work worthwhile. Cheers to my co-fellows, Almd FA and Alyssa Louise Pejana-Paulino, and the entire Glau Fellow Team for 2025. From long clinic hours to successful case reports, I couldn’t ask for a better team to grow with.

Each presentation is a milestone, and each discussion is a step closer to becoming the specialists our patients deserve.
